Introducing Raíces — a new series from EnForma about the wellness providers who put down roots in Mexico, and why
EnForma Wellness was not built in a conference room or launched from a co-working space in a city that made sense on paper. It was born in Mexico — in Sayulita, during the unusual quiet of a pandemic year, when the streets were empty and the pace of daily life had slowed to something almost forgotten.
That origin is not a footnote. It is the whole point.
This platform exists because Mexico does something to people. It holds them. It slows them down long enough to hear something they’d been tuning out. It offers a different relationship with the body, with time, with healing; one that has been practiced on this land for centuries before wellness became an industry. The practitioners in our community know this intimately. Many of them came for a visit and never booked the flight home. Others were born here, grew up inside these traditions, and built their work from the ground up in the places that shaped them.
We built EnForma to connect people with those wellness providers in Mexico. And we built Raíces to introduce you to them properly.
“Mexico has a way of keeping people. Raíces is our ongoing conversation with the ones who stayed.”
Raíces, the Spanish word for roots, is an ongoing blog series featuring the wellness providers in Mexico who are the heart of the EnForma community. Each post is a long-form conversation: about their work, their philosophy, their relationship with Mexico, and the path that brought them to where they are now.
These are not press releases or practitioner bios. They are real stories, told in real voices, about what it means to build a life and a practice in one of the most extraordinary wellness landscapes in the world.
We ask about the moment they knew they were staying — or the moment they understood, for the first time, the depth of the place they had always called home. We ask what Mexico has taught them that their training didn’t. We ask about the ancient traditions they’ve encountered or grown up inside, the clients who changed them, the mornings that made them certain they were exactly where they were supposed to be. And then we ask where they eat lunch.
Because the best practitioners are whole people — and you deserve to know who you’re walking into a session with.
EnForma operates across four locations in Mexico, each with its own character, its own wellness culture, its own particular way of drawing people in and not letting go.
Sayulita — Surf town energy, jungle stillness, and a community of practitioners who found their calling at the intersection of movement and ocean. Yoga, breathwork, somatic healing, sound — Sayulita holds all of it.
San Miguel de Allende — The city where EnForma began. A UNESCO World Heritage colonial town in the highlands of Guanajuato, home to a remarkable density of healers, artists, and seekers from around the world.
Puerto Escondido — Raw coastline, serious waves, and a wellness scene that runs deeper than the surf culture suggests. Practitioners here often work at the edge of modalities, outside the mainstream.
Tulum — Cenotes, jungle, and a long history as a destination for those looking for something they can’t quite name. Tulum’s wellness community is one of the most internationally diverse in Mexico.
Raíces will take you inside all of them — through the practitioners who call each one home.
As we developed this series, we realized quickly that there is not one Raíces story. There are two.
There are the practitioners who came from somewhere else — from the US, Canada, Europe, South America — and found in Mexico a depth of life and practice they hadn’t expected. Who extended a trip, then extended it again, until one day they stopped extending and simply stayed. Who built their practices here, often from scratch, often without a plan, guided by something they still struggle to explain.
And there are the practitioners who were born here. Who grew up inside the traditions that visitors travel thousands of miles to encounter. Who carry in their hands and their lineage a relationship with healing that is not borrowed or discovered but inherited, and who are doing the quiet, profound work of honoring that inheritance while building something new.
Both stories belong in Raíces. Both are essential to understanding what wellness in Mexico actually is.
“These are not press releases or practitioner bios. They are real stories, told in real voices, about what it means to build a life and a practice in one of the most extraordinary wellness landscapes in the world.”
There is no shortage of wellness content online. What is harder to find is wellness content that tells the truth — about how practitioners actually got here, what sustains them, what challenges them, what Mexico asked of them that they hadn’t anticipated.
At EnForma, we believe that choosing wellness providers in Mexico is an intimate decision. It requires more than a modality and a price point. It requires a sense of who someone is; their philosophy, their story, the particular quality of attention they bring to the room.
Raíces exists to give you that. To turn a profile into a person. To make the act of booking a session feel less like scrolling a marketplace and more like reaching out to someone you already know a little, someone whose work you already respect before you walk through the door.
We also want to celebrate these practitioners simply because they deserve it. They are doing extraordinary work, often in places the international wellness industry barely notices. They deserve to be seen.

We are beginning the Raíces series with Cara Shanti — a yoga teacher, somatic therapist, and ceremony facilitator based in Puerto Escondido, who arrived for six months and stayed seven years. She was not a yoga teacher when she arrived. She was not a therapist. She had a backpack, a love of surf, and a friend’s recommendation. Puerto Escondido gave her everything else.
Her story is about what happens when a place doesn’t just change you — it reveals you. It is, in other words, exactly where Raíces had to begin.
Raíces publishes regularly on the EnForma Wellness journal. Each post features a practitioner from our community in Sayulita, San Miguel de Allende, Puerto Escondido, or Tulum.
