Winter Solstice Wednesday December 21 

Right before the holiday is the Winter Solstice , the shortest day of the year based on the earth’s tilt, which this year falls on Wednesday December 21. In ancient times, the Winter Solstice was looked at as the death and rebirth of the sun or sun god(s) and is still celebrated today by many.

So what can we expect from Sayulita on this day? Being that the Winter Solstice falls on Wednesday of this year, most activities should be normal, such as yoga schedules and opportunities to find other activities. We did a little digging and found some things that are happening around town this day:

• Free Beach fire (burning the last of hurricane driftwood) and meditation , music and more 🙂 bring a blanket, instrument (optional) and open heart. Hosted by Gary Culp meeting point in front of Bar Miraramar on the northside beach 8pm-10pm

• Rose Room: Deep Restorative and Yoga Nidra by Alana that evening. 
• Selina: Make Moves Water Dance by Dinanna David 11am-12pm
• Oka. Hey: Conexiòn Somatica by Nikky 6:30pm-7:45pm
• Tea Ceremony with Emma Potz ( sold out)

Christmas Eve December 24/ Christmas Day December 25

Just a few days after the Winter Solstice Sayulita will celebrate Christmas along with most of Mexico on the 24th and 25th of DeCember.

On Christmas Eve in Sayulita you can expect to hear fireworks late into the night, (so plan to celebrate or buy some ear plugs at the farmacias if you are close to town.) This is one of the busiest times in Sayulita, but you may find that restaurants will close early to observe the holiday or not open at all. This is a great time to hit the beach, pack up the car or ride the bus to explore some beaches close by such as Lo de Marcos or San Pancho.

Check with their instagram or call/send a WhatsApp to confirm their times for Christmas Day and Christmas Eve (sometimes it won’t be listed online).
